India and France are working together on their third joint satellite mission 'TRISHNA'. How Will 'TRISHNA' Work?
The Indian Space Agency (ISRO) stated that the TRISHNA satellite will monitor factors affecting Earth's surface temperature, emissions, biophysical properties, and radiation. This mission addresses challenges related to water and food security. It will monitor the impacts of human-induced climate change and evapotranspiration, focusing on efficient water resource management.
Satellite to be Positioned in SSO
The TRISHNA satellite will have two primary payloads. The French space agency will provide the thermal infrared payload, which will include a four-channel long-wave infrared imaging sensor capable of high-resolution measurement of surface temperature and emissions. ISRO will develop the visible near-infrared-shortwave infrared payload, which will have seven spectral bands capable of comprehensive mapping of surface reflectance.
