With this surge in air travel, India has now overtaken Japan, which reported 205 million passengers in 2024. India now trails only the United States, China, the United Kingdom, and Spain in global rankings.

Premium Air Travel Sees Steady Growth
India also witnessed an increase in demand for premium classes. In 2024, business and first-class international air travel grew by 11.8%, slightly higher than the 11.5% growth in economy class. A total of 116.9 million passengers traveled in premium categories globally, accounting for 6% of all international travelers.
Regional Insights on Premium Travel
The Asia-Pacific region recorded a 22.8% growth in premium passengers, reaching 21 million. Europe continued to dominate in volume with 39.3 million premium passengers, while the Middle East had the highest share of premium travelers at 14.7%.
