Independence Day Special: Will India Celebrate its 77th or 78th Independence Day This Year?

As we remember India's independence, we celebrate Independence Day on the 15th of August every year. But do you know which Independence Day we will be celebrating this year?

77th or 78th Independence Day?

India celebrates Independence Day every year on August 15th. This day is extremely significant for us as our country gained freedom from British rule on August 15, 1947. Many brave soldiers and freedom fighters sacrificed their lives for this independence.

Our country became independent on August 15, 1947, and we celebrated our first Independence Day that year. If we count from that day, the first Independence Day was celebrated in 1947. In 2024, we will be celebrating our 78th Independence Day. On August 15, 2024, India will celebrate its 78th Independence Day, honoring the sacrifices of the freedom fighters who fought for independence from British rule. Nationwide flag hoisting takes place in schools, offices, and government buildings across India to show national pride.

This Year's Theme

This year, as India celebrates its 78th Independence Day, the theme is "Developed India." Last year's theme was "Nation First, Always First."

Independence Day Preparations

As Independence Day approaches, a wave of enthusiasm spreads across the country. Preparations begin in every state, city, and village for this day. Special programs are organized in schools, colleges, and government offices. The Prime Minister hoists the flag at the Red Fort in Delhi and addresses the nation. On this occasion, the tricolor is hoisted across the country, patriotic songs are sung, and tributes are paid to our brave freedom fighters.

Independence Day Celebrations

The Independence Day celebrations reflect immense enthusiasm and patriotism, reaffirming India's commitment to building an inclusive and strong nation for future generations. Under the "Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav" initiative, the government encourages citizens to bring the Indian flag to their homes through the "Har Ghar Tiranga" campaign.
