ISRO Working on Chandrayaan-4

Following the historic success of the Chandrayaan-3 mission, ISRO has begun preparations for the next lunar mission. Unlike its predecessor, Chandrayaan-4 will not be launched in a single phase. Instead, it will be launched in two separate phases. In this mission, ISRO's spacecraft will not only land on the moon but also return to Earth with rock and soil samples. This mission is crucial for the future of human missions to the moon.

The Chandrayaan-4 mission will include two additional components dedicated to collecting samples from the moon and bringing them back to Earth. The five components of the Chandrayaan-4 mission will not be launched together. In the first phase, similar to the Chandrayaan-3 mission, the propulsion, descent, and ascent modules will be launched. In the second phase, the transfer and re-entry modules will be launched on a Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV).

ISRO Chief S. Somanath stated that India's heaviest launch vehicle, LVM-3, will launch with three components: the propulsion module, descent module, and ascent module. These will be launched in a manner similar to the Chandrayaan-3 mission. The transfer and re-entry modules will be launched on a Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV).
